Production technology and application of chemical fiber masterbatch!

Chemical fiber masterbatch is a commonly used coloring and functional additive material in the production of chemical fibers. It uniformly encapsulates pigments or additives within the carrier resin to form granular form, which is convenient for uniform dispersion during spinning.

From the perspective of production process, the preparation of Chemical fiber masterbatch involves several steps such as high mixing, melt extrusion, and granulation. The key lies in the compatibility between the pigment and the carrier, as well as the dispersion effect. If the dispersion is not adequate, problems such as broken fibers and color differences may occur during the spinning process. Common carriers include PET, PA, PP, etc. The matching scheme should be selected based on the type of fiber.

At the application level, Chemical fiber masterbatches are mainly divided into two types: color masterbatches and functional masterbatches. Color masterbatches are used for pre-coloring before spinning of polyester, nylon, and polypropylene fibers. Compared with traditional dyeing and printing, they can reduce water pollution and energy consumption. Functional masterbatches impart properties such as UV resistance, flame retardancy, and antibacterial properties to the fibers, and are used in outdoor textiles, automotive interiors, medical materials, and other scenarios.

When making the selection, three points need to be considered: whether the pigment's temperature resistance matches the spinning temperature; whether the additives will clog the spinneret; the mixing ratio of the masterbatch and the raw materials, with the conventional addition range being 2% - 8%. Some high-performance masterbatches need to be used in combination with dispersing additives.

In recent years, Chemical fiber masterbatches have been developing towards a more comprehensive functional direction. For instance, the combination of coloring and anti-aging functions has been achieved, reducing the post-processing procedures. At the same time, bio-based masterbatches have gradually gained attention, using degradable materials as the carrier to meet environmental protection requirements.

Poly Plastic Masterbatch (Suzhou) Co., Ltd (short name: PPM) was founded in May 1995. We have focused on dope dyeing for chemical fiber as well as R&D and production of advanced compounding material for years. Main products include color and functional masterbatch with high quality, environmentally friendly water-based nano color paste, optical electronic ink and etc. Downstream applications cover a wide range of industries, e.g. chemical fiber, automotive, E/E, optical material and other high-tech material.
