How to choose chemical fiber masterbatch?
Release date: [2025/7/8] Read total of [445] times

Chemical fiber masterbatch is a special colorant used for chemical fiber coloring. It is made of a high proportion of pigments or dyes and carrier resins, dispersants and other additives through a special process. It is a granular coloring material that evenly disperses the pigment in a resin carrier. It is mainly used for pre-spinning coloring of synthetic fibers such as polyester, nylon, and polypropylene. Compared with traditional dyeing processes, the use of masterbatch coloring has significant advantages such as simple process, high color fastness, low environmental pollution, and uniform and stable color.

How to buy Chemical fiber masterbatch?

1. Clarify the fiber type and process requirements

Different chemical fibers (such as polyester, nylon, and polypropylene) have different performance requirements for Chemical fiber masterbatch. Before purchasing, you need to confirm the type of fiber used and the spinning process parameters (such as spinning temperature) to ensure that the carrier resin of the masterbatch is compatible with the fiber and can withstand the processing temperature without decomposition.

2. Focus on color performance indicators

Check the color strength, color light, heat resistance (usually need to withstand high temperatures above 280°C), migration resistance and color fastness (including light resistance, wash resistance, friction resistance, etc.) of the masterbatch. High-quality masterbatch should ensure color consistency between batches.

3. Pay attention to dispersibility and filtration performance

High-quality Chemical fiber masterbatch pigments are evenly dispersed, the particle size is usually less than 1μm, and it is not easy to clog the spinneret during spinning. Suppliers can be asked to provide filtration pressure values (usually DF values should be less than 0.5MPa·cm/g). The lower the value, the better the filtration performance.

4. Evaluate physical and chemical stability

Check whether the melt index (MFI) of the masterbatch matches the base resin to avoid uneven coloring due to differences in fluidity. At the same time, its impact on the mechanical properties of the fiber needs to be considered. High-quality products should not significantly reduce the fiber strength.

Poly Plastic Masterbatch (Suzhou) Co., Ltd (short name: PPM) was founded in May 1995. We have focused on dope dyeing for chemical fiber as well as R&D and production of advanced compounding material for years. Main products include color and functional masterbatch with high quality, environmentally friendly water-based nano color paste, optical electronic ink and etc. Downstream applications cover a wide range of industries, e.g. chemical fiber, automotive, E/E, optical material and other high-tech material. PPM was listed successfully on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2020.
