Chemical fiber masterbatch is a key raw material in the production of chemical fibers, directly affecting the performance, color and function of the fibers. It is made by melt blending high-concentration polymers, pigments or additives, and is mixed with the substrate during the spinning process to endow the fibers with specific properties. The application of chemical fiber masterbatch runs through the entire chemical fiber industry chain, but its core value lies in its formulation technology and preparation process rather than merely the application scenarios.
Composition and Classification of Chemical fiber masterbatch:
The main components of Chemical fiber masterbatch include carrier resin, functional additives and dispersants. According to their different functions, they can be classified into color masterbatches (which give fibers color), functional masterbatches (such as antibacterial, flame-retardant, and antistatic), and modified masterbatches (which improve the mechanical properties of fibers). For instance, matte masterbatches with added titanium dioxide can reduce the luster of fibers, while carbon black masterbatches are used to produce black fibers. The formulation design of chemical fiber masterbatch needs to take into account both compatibility and thermal stability to ensure stable performance during the high-temperature spinning process.
Key factors of the production process:
The manufacturing of Chemical fiber masterbatches usually adopts the melt extrusion method. After mixing the polymer base material with additives, it is granulated through a twin-screw extruder. The technological difficulty lies in uniform dispersion - if the additives agglomerate, it will cause color differences or uneven performance in the fibers. Therefore, optimizing the screw combination, temperature and shear force is of vital importance. In addition, the particle size and melt index of the masterbatch need to be matched with the subsequent spinning process; otherwise, it may clog the spinneret or affect the fiber strength.
Poly Plastic Masterbatch (Suzhou) Co., Ltd (short name: PPM) was founded in May 1995. We have focused on dope dyeing for chemical fiber as well as R&D and production of advanced compounding material for years. Main products include color and functional masterbatch with high quality, environmentally friendly water-based nano color paste, optical electronic ink and etc. Downstream applications cover a wide range of industries, e.g. chemical fiber, automotive, E/E, optical material and other high-tech material. PPM was listed successfully on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2020.
