In order to further improve the industrial layout, on May 26, 2023, Suzhou Politi Material Technology Co., Ltd. signed a joint venture Agreement with Professor Zhang Zhenjie, a researcher at the School of Chemistry of Nankai University, to jointly establish Yaoke New Materials (Suzhou) Co., LTD., which will conduct research and development, sales and marketing around covalent organic framework materials -COFs new materials project. On June 14, 2023, the two sides held a signing ceremony at Polaroid. Professor Zhang Zhenjie, researcher of Nankai University, Mr. Xu Yiming, chairman of Suzhou Baolidi Material Technology Co., Ltd. and others attended the signing ceremony.

01 What is COFs new material


COFs new material, also known as covalent organic framework material, is an emerging crystalline porous polymer material composed of organic molecules connected by covalent bonds. It has high thermochemical stability, good biocompatibility, large specific surface area and porosity. Low skeleton density, permanently open pore structure, diversification of synthesis strategies and controllable chemical and physical properties (as shown in the figure), can be widely used in chemical catalysis, water treatment, biomedicine and energy and other fields.

Compared with traditional inorganic porous materials, COFs materials have good structural and functional adjustability, and have wide application prospects in adsorption and separation, energy, catalysis and other fields.


01. Adsorption and separation field

Two rare flu topological three-dimensional COF adsorbents were synthesized by the [8+4] construction method based on ocTA monomer. These adsorbents can effectively remove trace amounts of propyl from the propyl/propylene (1/99,v/v) mixture to obtain high purity propylene (> 99.99%). In addition, COFs material has abundant pore channels and large specific surface area, which can be widely used in carbon dioxide separation and dye adsorption.

02. The field of energy

Zhenjie Zhang, a researcher from Nankai University, in collaboration with Professor Michael J. Zaworotko, eScience Consultant Editorial Board of the University of Limerick, Ireland, designed and synthesized a heat-responsive imide COF. Subsequently, the author and his team conducted a combustion test on it, and NKCOF-11 was still not ignited when 10s were placed on the flame, showing excellent flame retardant performance, opening up a new road for improving the safety of lithium-ion batteries. In addition, the highly crystalline and highly stable COFs (NKCOF-2) prepared by Zhang Zhenjie's research group showed excellent electrochemical energy storage properties after in-situ composite with carbon nanotubes (CNTs), expanding its application prospects in energy fields such as fuel cells.

Zhang Zhenjie, Professor, School of Chemistry, Nankai University. In 2006 and 2009, he received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the School of Chemistry, Nankai University (Tutor: Professor Cheng Peng, Changjiang Scholar). In 2014, he graduated from the Department of Chemistry, University of South Florida, USA, with a Doctor of Science degree. In 2016, he joined the School of Chemistry of Nankai University as the leader of the independent research group, and was selected into the National Young Talent Program in the same year. He has won the first Jingqing Chemistry New Talent Award of Chinese Chemical Society, National Excellent Self-funded student Scholarship, etc., and has published more than 100 papers in top chemical journals such as Nat.Sustanability, Nat.Rev.Chem, Nat.Commun., J.A. Chem.SOC.
